Eagles Advance to Region 11 Championship

Cedar Rapids, IA- The Kirkwood Eagles are headed to the Region 11 Tournament Championship after a strong performance against Ellsworth. Traijan Sain led the way with 21 points and six rebounds, while Germaine Benson contributed 11 points off the bench. Zach Erwin also had a solid game, finishing with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Kirkwood's depth was a key factor, with the bench contributing 29 points. A dominant second-half surge proved to be the difference, as the Eagles outscored the Panthers by 14 points while also tightening up defensively to limit Ellsworth's scoring.

The Eagles controlled the glass, winning the rebounding battle 41-32, including 11 offensive boards. Tyler Netolicky led the team with 11 rebounds, followed by Erwin with seven and Sain with six.

Kirkwood also capitalized at the free-throw line, making 18 of 22 attempts (81.8%), outscoring Ellsworth from the stripe by a significant margin.

The Eagles will now host Iowa Central in the Region 11 Tournament Championship this Saturday at 4:00 PM in Johnson Hall.
