Eagles Handed Loss by Iowa Western on the Road
Council Bluffs, IA- Wednesday's top 10 match-up between Kirkwood & Iowa Western went in favor of the home Reivers 67-51.
Iowa Western, which led throughout the game, jumped out to a 16-6 lead midway through the first quarter and led 18-11 after a quarter of play.
Kirkwood (14-2 / 5-1) would cut into the lead and trail 33-27 at halftime.
The Eagles used a 15-9 run in the third quarter to tie the game at 42-42 on a three-pointer by sophomore Demetria Prewitt with 56 seconds remaining.
The fourth quarter was a struggle offensively for the Eagles, as they shot 4-18 (22.2%) from the floor & were outscored 22-9.
Prewitt led Kirkwood in scoring with a career-high 29 points & 8 rebounds. Freshman Jenna Twedt added 9 points.
Kirkwood returns home on Saturday as they host Northeast at 1:00 pm in Johnson Hall.
