Kirkwood's freshman pitcher Erin Hocker is the one the Eagles want in the circle. Out of four starts last week, Hocker threw three shutouts. The righty threw 26 innings, allowing only 8 earned runs scored. She rang up a total of 40 strikeouts for the books, 18 hitters combined against No. 5 Iowa Central and No. 20 NIACC. Hocker now has a pitching record of 13-5 with one save. In 116.1 innings pitched, she's struck out 122 batters which leaves her with an ERA of 2.29. The Eagles will depend on Hocker and their defense when they take on No. 4 DMACC in Boone this weekend.
