
No. 9 Eagles dominate own tournament
The Eagles swept two matches Saturday to finish the two-day event with a 4-0 record, with the highlight being a five-set victory over top-ranked Parkland on Friday.
Kirkwood swept Central (Neb.), 26-24, 25-17, 25-12, in its first match Saturday and rolled by McHenry, 25-12, 25-16, 25-17.
The Eagles raised their record to 10-4 with the perfect weekend.
Taylor Carey blocked 15 shots Saturday, with 10 blocks against Central and five more against McHenry. She also had 12 kills in the two matches.
Anna Gorsich collected 17 kills and 14 digs against Central. Madi Wagaman had 23 assists and Rachael Nelson 12. Maranda Wheelock made 17 digs. Abbie Ericson blocked six shots and Aubrin Dittmer swatted four.
Gorsich had eight kills, Carey seven, Dittmer six and Ericson six against McHenry. Wagaman had 17 more assists and Nelson 11. Wheelock had 19 more digs, and Olivia Richards had 10. Maggie Peters blocked seven shots and Gorsich snuffed five.
