Eagles Finish Third at Warrior Challenge

Moravia, IA - The Kirkwood men's golf team shot a final round team score of 293 (+5) at the 2018 Warrior Challenge on Tuesday (Sept. 18) at The Preserve on Lake Rathbun. The Eagles compiled a two-day team score of 865 (+1), which was good for a third-place finish and 35 shots back of tournament winner, Indian Hills and only two shot behind Iowa Western.

Ben Epperly, a RS freshman from West Des Moines Valley had a solid showing as he lead the Eagles and finished with a total score of 214 (-2), putting him in ninth place. Will Babcock and Ryan Morrison finished at 217 (+1) and tied at tenth.  While James Morgan fired in consistently at 219 (+3) and was at 12th place.  Dawson Peters rounded out the scoring for the Eagles, finished 22nd with a 219 (+9).

Coach Pint was pleased with the steady play, and response of his golfers within the highly competitive and highly ranked field at the Warrior Challenge.  "It was nice to see such balance across our line-up" as Coach Pint talked about the finishing day of play.  "The opportunity for us to compete with two top-five ranked teams: NJCAA DI Indian Hills and DI Iowa Western creates a great environment for our golfers as they continue to better prepare their level of play". 

The Eagles are set to hit the course again on Sunday (Sept. 23) for the Region XI Fall Preview, at Veenker Golf Course.
