Morgan, KCC golfers grab 2nd place

WAVERLY - James Morgan tied the school record with a 5-under-par 66 Saturday to spark the Kirkwood men's golf team at the Wartburg Spring Invite at Prairie Links Golf Course.

Morgan finished second in the individual standings at 1-under 141 in the 36-hole event and Kirkwood placed second out of 13 squads in the team standings.

Nebraska Wesleyan topped Kirkwood by 19 strokes for the title. Alex Kubik of Nebraska Wesleyan claimed medalist honors at 4-under 138 for a three-shot victory over Morgan.

Sebastian Carranza tied for 12th for Kirkwood at 10-over 152.
