The top-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team drubbed Spoon River College, 79-26, in the first round of the Kirkwood Classic at Johnson Hall Friday night.

The Eagles (6-0) soared to a 30-8 lead in the first quarter and led 43-13 at halftime.

Kortney Drake popped in four 3-pointers in the first quarter and finished with a team-high 15 points. Ashley Tull stuffed the stat sheet again with 12 points, nine rebounds, seven steals, three blocks and two assists.

Tasia Jordan added 10 points for the Eagles.

Kirkwood meets 17th-ranked Bryant & Stratton in the second round of the tournament at 3 p.m.
