No. 7 Eagles finish 3-1 at Wisconsin Dells

Metro Sports Report | WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. -- The seventh-ranked Kirkwood volleyball team won both of its matches Saturday to finish with a 3-1 record at the Wisconsin Dells tournament.

The Eagles defeated Harper College, 25-20, 19-25, 25-7, 26-24, and rallied to top Carl Sandburg, 23-25, 29-27, 25-14, 25-22.

Margaret Micka led Kirkwood against Harper College with 12 kills and 14 digs. Alexa Whipple had eight kills and 11 digs. Abbi Tunis finished with six kills and Ady Wintermote had five.

Grace Swenning collected 16 assists against Harper and Lauren Keane had 14. Whipple had four aces and McKenzie Petersen blocked six shots.

Micka had 10 more kills against Carl Sandburg. Tunis had nine kills, Wintermote seven, Hailey Borgmeyer six and Petersen five.

Keane rolled up 20 assists against Sandburg and Swenning had 14. Swenning also had four aces. Brianna Eberhardt provided 16 digs and Keane finished with 15. Wintermote and Haleigh Durnin blocked five shots.

In the tournament's opening round on Friday, the Eagles lost to third-ranked Owens, 3-0, and rebounded with a 3-0 victory over Henry Ford.

Margaret Micka led Kirkwood with 11 kills against Owens. Ady Wintermote had six kills and Haleigh Durnin had five. Lauren Keane rolled up 21 assists, Micka had 10 digs and Durnin had seven blocks.

Alexa Whipple collected 14 kills against Henry Ford. Micka had nine kills for the Eagles (2-1). Grace Swenning dished out 20 assists and Micka had 11 digs.

Kirkwood raised its overall record to 4-1.
