Eagles Take Home Post-Season Honors

Cedar Rapids, IA- Five Kirkwood Eagles took home post-season ICCAC awards this year. The Eagles libero, Lily Van Severen, took home two of those honors. Lily was named to First Team All-Region and was also named Freshman of the Year as well. This is Kirkwood's second season in a row having the Freshman of the Year, with Ava Morris receiving it last year. Van Severen had 584 digs while averaging 4.29 a set, helping the Eagles to a top 5 NJCAA ranking to end the season. She added 111 assists and was the Eagle's top passer, picking up 618 receptions. 

Emma Cross was also named to the First Team All-Region Team. She was third in the conference in kills with 408 in total, averaging 3.11 per set. Sophomore Alyssa Tegeler and freshman, Emma Meester, were named to the Second Team All-Region Team. Lexi Hearn was named to the Third Team All-Region for her contributions to Kirkwood this year. 

The Eagles hope to take the momentum built into the national tournament this upcoming week in Cedar Rapids. Kirkwood plays Heartland Community College on Wednesday 11/15 at 3:30 pm in the Alliant Energy Powerhouse Arena.
