3 Eagles Honored With Post-Season Accolades

Cedar Rapids, IA- After finishing up the most successful season in 40 years as the national runner-up, Kirkwood Softball has deservingly been honored with multiple post-season awards. Three Eagles have accumulated these prestigious awards, Peyton Johnson, Sailor Hall, and Rachael Schlotter. The awards are the 2024 NFCA DII All-Americans, 2024 NJCAA DII Softball All-America Teams, and 2024 NJCAA Division II Rawlings Gold Glove Award ®.

2024 NFCA NJCAA II All-Americans

Both Peyton Johnson and Sailor Hall were named to the 2024 NFCA NJCAA All-American lists. Johnson was named to the first team and Hall was named to the second team. Johnson, a freshman from Marion, IA, earned this award after a first-year campaign that saw her with a batting average of .424, hitting 14 home runs and adding 66 RBIs. Hall, a sophomore and a native of West Liberty, IA, earned second-team after hitting .371 on the year with 9 home runs and adding 69 RBIs. "NFCA All-Region and All-America athletes must be nominated by their NFCA-member head coach, are voted for by the coaches in their region or division, and ultimately selected by elected NJCAA Division II All-American committee members to receive this prestigious accolade. All special awards are also selected by the All-American committee members or by the entire division." 

2024 NJCAA DII All-Americans

Johnson was also named to the NJCAA DII-All American list. All-America selections are made by the NJCAA Division II Softball Committee. Johnson was named to the 3rd team and was the first Eagle to earn this recognition since Peggy Klingler earned the same award in the 21-22' season. 

2024 NJCAA Division II Rawlings Gold Glove Award ®

Both Sailor Hall and Rachael Schlotter earned the 2024 NJCAA Division II Rawlings Gold Glove Award. Recipients of the Rawlings Gold Glove Award, presented by the NFCA, were selected by the NFCA's NJCAA Division I & II All-America Committees, following regional voting to identify the finalists at each position. The award recognizes nine student-athletes from each of the NJCAA Division I, II and III memberships.

These awards capped off what was an already historic season for the Eagles.
