
KCC volleyball stuns No. 1 Parkland
The ninth-ranked Eagles took down top-ranked Parkland, 25-22, 25-22, 21-25, 20-25, 15-11, in an exciting match at Johnson Hall.
Parkland (17-1) suffered its first and only loss of the season. Kirkwood raised its record to 8-4 with two wins Friday.
Fr. outside hitter, Anna Gorsich led the Eagles with 14 kills and 21 digs against Parkland. Fr. outside hitter Aubrin Dittmer and So. right-side hitter Abbie Ericson had 13 kills. Fr. middle Maggie Peters contributed eight kills and seven blocks.
So. setter Madi Wagaman had 26 assists against Parkland and Fr. setter Rachael Nelson had 19. Libero Maranda Wheelock matched Gorsich with 21 digs. So. returning middle Taylor Carey added five blocks. Ellie Bildstein and Gorsich had four blocks.
Kirkwood swept Sauk Valley, 25-15, 25-11, 25-16, in their nightcap match Friday. Dittmer and Ericson had nine kills. Gorsich had seven. Wagaman had 20 more assists and Nelson contributed 11. Defensively Gorsich lead with 11 digs and Carey was big at the net with 9 blocks.
The tournament continues Saturday.
