
#4 Eagles Qualify for National Tournament in Cedar Rapids
Cedar Rapids, IA- The Kirkwood Women's Volleyball team qualified for the 2023 NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship for the 6th straight year. They qualified as one of four at-large bids for the tournament, a new format for the 2023 season. Their 31-8 season, 10-1 ICCAC record, and 11 wins against top #20 teams allowed them to finish the season with a #4 national ranking, making them the first at-large bid into the tournament.
Kirkwood was placed as the #7 overall seed in the national tournament. They will be playing Heartland Community College, the #10 seed, in the first round. The Eagles hold a 2-0 advantage this season over the Hawks, winning the first match at their home tournament in September by a set score of 3-1, and winning the second in October in Boone with a set score of 3-0.
The tournament is being held at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse Arena in Cedar Rapids. The Eagles are scheduled to play this upcoming Wednesday 11/15 at 3:30 pm.
