#4 Kirkwood Sweeps Lakers at Home

Cedar Rapids, IA- The 4th ranked Kirkwood Eagles (2-0 ICCAC) welcomed the Iowa Lakes Lakers (1-1 ICCAC) into Johnson Hall on Wednesday evening for a pivotal ICCAC matchup. 

The Eagles were coming off a win last week against Ellsworth while the Lakers were coming off a win over Marshalltown. Kirkwood started off the first set on an 8-0 run with Kaci Johnson behind the service line. Johnson would tally 4 aces on the night. She would also add 7 kills hitting .368, 16 assists, and 4 digs as well. Kirkwood would take the first two sets 25-9 and 25-12. The third set was more back and forth with the Eagles pulling off the sweep 25-20. 

Sydney Matthias would add 11 assists of her own while sophomore Emma Meester would hit .727 on 8 kills with 0 errors. Freshman Maggye Smith would add 7 kills of her own on 17 total attempts, hitting . 412 on the night. Sophomores Maggie Lueck and Lily VanSeveren would pace the Eagles defensively with 8 and 9 digs respectively. 

The Eagles are on the road this weekend when they travel to Kansas City to take on the #1 and #2 ranked teams in NJCAA DII Volleyball, Cowley and Johnson County.
