Kirkwood Golf Wins Second Straight Tournament

WAVERLY -- The No. 7 Kirkwood men's golf team won their second consecutive tournament as they claimed the Wartburg Invitational at the Prairie Links Golf Course in Waverly this past weekend. The Eagles shot a team score of 580 which was 18 strokes better than second place Coe College and 24 strokes better than third place University of Dubuque.

Also winning a second straight event was sophomore JD Goodfellow who took home individual medalist honors for low round after firing back-to-back one-under-par 71's for a total of 142.

Sophomores Niall Powell and Max Thrune, along with freshman Ryan Morrison and Dawson Peters, all came in a tie for third place with scores of 2-over-par 146.

Other notable Eagles were Josh McCormick (+5, 149) in a tie for 11th and Will Babcock (+10, 154) who tied for 21st.

The Eagles will take their winning streak up to Wisconsin as they compete in the Ronnie Eastman Invitational at the LaCrosse Country Club in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on Oct. 2-3.
