Richards shines as No.8 Eagles sweep

DANVILLE, Ill. - Olivia Richards had a big day for the Kirkwood softball team Wednesday.

The eighth-ranked Eagles swept Danville Community College, 7-2 and 14-9, raising their record to 11-4.

Richards went 3-for-4 in the first game with a double, triple, and three RBIs. She belted a grand slam and drove in five runs in Game 2 and finished the day with a .500 batting average.

Austyn Crees hit a home run for the Eagles in Game 1. Kori Wedeking (6-1) pitched a complete game, allowing two runs with nine strikeouts.

Sydney Albaugh socked two homers for Kirkwood in the 14-9 verdict in Game 2. Peggy Klingler also hit a home run and drove in five runs. She went 3-for-5 and scored three runs. Isabelle True (2-2) pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief for the victory.
