Men’s basketball wins first round game at NJCAA Division Il National Championship Tournament

Danville, IL – The Eagles got out to a fast start and cruised to a 96-66 win over North Central Missouri College in the opening round of the NJCAA Division ll Championships.
The top-seeded Eagles (28-4) will take on either the No. 8 seed Wake Tech of North Carolina or the No. 9 see Niagra County of New York in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 20.
Allante Pickens led Kirkwood with 24 points and Devonte Thedford and Douglas Wilson added 13 apiece. Wilson also had a team-high 10 rebounds. Jamal Stephenson came off the bench to score 12 and Connor Kasperbauer added 10.
The Eagles shot 54 percent from the field, including 64 percent in the first half.
Solomon Thomas led North Central Missouri (18-13) with 18 points.
