ICCAC announces All-Region Teams

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference announced the 2019 Division II Men's Golf Player and Coach of the Year along with the 2019 All-Region teams on Thursday.

Kirkwood's Ryan Morrison was named the 2019 ICCAC Men's Golf Player of the Year after averaging a 73.1 stroke average for the season. The sophomore Berkshire, U.K tied for seventh place at the Region XI Tournament. During the year, he won two individual tournament titles, finish in the Top 3 four times, the Top 5 five times, and the Top 10 ten times. Morrison and his teammates will be competing in the NJCAA National Tournament on May 21-24 in Plymouth, Ind after winning the 2019 Region XI Championship.  

The Eagles' head coach Darin Pint was named the 2019 ICCAC Men's Golf Coach of the Year award after leading Kirkwood to yet another Region XI Championship. Kirkwood has won the Regional Title 14 times in the last 16 years, where Pint has been the coach for 23 seasons. The Eagles finished with a team score of 603, 20 strokes better than the next-best, DMACC.

After the tournament, Kirkwood led the conference with three athletes earning First-Team honors.

The Eagle freshman James Morgan and Ben Epperly received First-Team honors as well as sophomore Will Babcock after their Region XI Tournament performances. All three men finished within the top five with scores of 153 (Babcock, 5^th) 149 (Epperly, 3^rd) and 147 (Morgan, 1^st).

Another First-Team honoree is Ben Boerjan from NIACC. Boerjan placed second at the Regional Tournament with an overall score of 248, one stroke behind the winner. Boerjan finished second in the Player of the Year voting.

DMACC's Kolby Chup tied for fifth place at the Regional Tournament with a score of 153, earning First-Team All-Region status. 

Rounding out the 2019 All-American First-Team honorees is Matthew Schaefer from Northeast (Neb.). The freshman finished fourth at the Regional Tournament with a score of 150.

The All-Region Second-Team honorees include four individuals who tied for seventh place at the Regional XI Tournament. Two golfers from Southwestern: Reinhardt Saunderson and Oliver Pearson join the Second-Team. Both Saunderson and Pearson were First Team performers last season. Rounding out Second Team was DMACC's Louie Psihoyos and Kirkwood's Morrison.

The All-Region Honorable Mentions include Noah Hartman (DMACC), Ethan Yahr (Hawkeye), Colton Belloma (Southeastern), Cameron Maxwell (Iowa Lakes), Matthew Kingston (Northeast) and Dawson Peters (Kirkwood). Peters was the 2018 Region XI Champion.
