Wilson Named All-American

Freshman Doug Wilson capped off an impressive freshman season for the Kirkwood men's basketball team by being named a member of the NJCAA Division II All-American Second Team, as announced by the association on Tuesday afternoon.

Wilson becomes the latest in a recent string of Eagles to be named to an All-American team, following in the footsteps of Miles Wentzien ('17; 1st Team), Hunter Rhodes ('16; 1st Team), and Jordan Ashton ('15; 1st Team). He is also one of the few freshman in program history to receive the honor.

Wilson, a freshman forward from Des Moines, led the Eagles to 24-6 overall record and a regular season ICCAC title in his first year, averaging 14 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game while shooting 69% from the field. In ICCAC play, Wilson upped those averages to 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks while shooting 68% in route to becoming a unanimous First Team All-Region selection.
