WAVERLY - The Kirkwood men's golf team lost the Wartburg Spring Invitational by one shot Saturday.

The DMACC Bears nipped the Eagles, 584 to 585, for the 36-hole championship at the Prairie Links Golf Course in a three-way photo finish among three premier junior college teams.

Southwestern finished third with a two-day total of 586, just another shot behind Kirkwood, in a wild scramble for the title.

Ben Epperly of Kirkwood tied for second in the individual standings at 1-under-par 143, but he was competing as an individual and did not count toward Kirkwood's team scores. If Epperly had been competing with the team, the Eagles would have won the title.

Ryan Morrison of Kirkwood also tied for second place at 1-under 143. Dawson Peters tied for fifth at 1-over 145.
