KCC softball sweeps to 30 wins

The sixth-ranked Kirkwood softball team swept an ICCAC doubleheader from Northeast Community College on Monday, 9-1 in six innings and 8-0 in five innings, at Kirkwood.
Kirkwood raised its records to 30-9 overall and 11-3 in the conference. The Eagles are still in third place in the league standings, trailing DMACC (13-1) and NIACC (12-2).
Bradee Bouman (14-3) tossed a three-hitter in the 9-1 victory in the opener. Lauren Kuch lofted a three-run double in the sixth inning when the Eagles scored six times for a walk-off victory.
Lauren Klaahsen and Jayme Finn had two RBIs in Game 1. Shelby Hulsebus had two hits. Kuch scored twice.
Jocey Parham (1-0) pitched a five-hit shutout in the 8-0 triumph in the second game for her first victory of the season.
Hulsebus was 3-for-4 and scored twice. Rachel Stewart was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. London Jackson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs. Taleah Smith had two hits.
Northeast Community College fell to 2-30 overall and 0-14 in the league.
