Pettigrew and Lawler named ICCAC Athlete of the Week | March 25-31

Zion Pettigrew is an RBI machine, to say the least. Kirkwood's third baseman played well against ICCAC opponents last week. Pettigrew averaged .591 at the plate, reaching base 14 times. The sophomore impressively hit five home runs complimented with a pair of doubles. Pettigrew was responsible for 23 Eagle runs as he had 14 RBIs and scored himself nine times. He now has 37 RBIs on the season which leads Division II ICCAC. Catch the Eagles in action on April 3 versus Parkland (Ill.).

The Kirkwood Eagles officially started conference play last weekend and RHP Carter Lawler earned a conference win against Iowa Central (10-0). In seven innings, Lawler only gave up four hits. The sophomore gave up no runs and racked up 10 strikeouts, adding to his season total of 35. Lawler is now 2-2 on the season. The Eagles continue conference play when they travel to Iowa Lakes this weekend.
