#11 Kirkwood Goes 9-0 on Florida Roadtrip

Winterhaven/Davenport, FL- The Kirkwood Eagles concluded their road trip down in Florida with four games against Genesee, Prairie State, Westchester, and Waubonsee. The theme of the trip has been complete domination offensively for the Eagles and these last four games were no different.

The 11th-ranked Eagles started things off quickly against Genesee, putting up 5 runs in the 1st inning. 6 different players had RBI's in this game, with Owen Ross and Michael Delzell each having 2, and Bronx Lewis having 3. Lewis hit a triple in this game and Delzell hit a double. Caden Wilson got the win on the mound with 4 innings pitched, 1 hit allowed, and 6 strikeouts. Kirkwood went on to win this game 10-2. In the second game of the day, the Kirkwood Eagles took on Prairie State. It was much of the same for the Eagles who put up 4 runs in the first inning. They then put up 5 runs in the 3rd and 3 runs in the 5th, with the game ending after the 5th inning. Alex Ritzer hit a homerun while Miles Risley, Connor Woods, and Ritzer each had two RBIs. Not to be outdone, Clayton Campidili had 3 RBIs as well. The Eagles beat Prairie State by a score of 12-2.

Kirkwood's last games in Florida were against Westchester and Waubonsee. Against Westchester, they put on an offensive clinic, scoring 23 runs to Westchester's 1. The bats were hot for the Eagles as Brayden Hellum and Ethan Bowers each had 3 RBIs, while Miles Risley, Jaxon Schumacher, Cal Sullivan, and Seth Winkler each had two. Kolton Lyman got the win on the mound for Kirkwood with 5 innings pitched, giving up 1 hit, and striking out 7. Nothing slowed down as far as offense goes for the Eagles in their last game against Waubonsee. Bronx Lewis, Alex Ritzer, Addison Binnie, CAl Sullivan, and Ethan Bowers all had 2 RBIs a piece, and Brayden Hellum put up 3 of his own. Hellum hit a homerun while Bowers also joined the homerun party and added two of his own. Jake Pemble got the win for the Eagles on the mound.

The Eagles come back to Iowa better prepared to take on ICCAC competition and look to keep the bats hot. Their next game will be against Indian Hills on March 20th in Centerville, IA. That game will begin at 2 PM.
