#9 Eagles Drop to Indian Hills

Centerville, IA- The ninth-ranked Kirkwood Eagles traveled to Centerville, IA yesterday to take on the Indian Hills Warriors for their first game of ICCAC play. Kirkwood was coming off a road trip to Florida where they played tough competition and came out 9-0 at the end of the trip. 

The Eagles got off to a quick start scoring 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning. The first run was scored by Ethan Bowers who scored on a balk. Jaxson Schumacher hit a sacrifice fly to score Miles Risley for the second run. Cal Sullivan singled up the middle for an RBI scoring Clayton Campidili for the third, and a throwing error allowed Kirkwood to be up 4-0. 

In the third inning, Cal Sullivan homered to center field putting the Eagles up 5-3. Schumacher followed up that home run with one of his own in the top of the 5th. Although the Eagle's bats were hot, the Warriors put up 13 runs between the 2nd and 6th innings and won the game by a score of 13-7. They outhit the Eagles 18-13. 

Next up for Kirkwood is another big ICCAC matchup with Iowa Lakes. The Eagles have a double-header on Saturday at 1 PM and 4 PM at home in Cedar Rapids and then one game on Sunday at 12 PM.
