#9 Eagles Take Down Indian Hills

#9 Eagles Take Down Indian Hills

Cedar Rapids, IA- The ninth-ranked Kirkwood Eagles took on the Indian Hills Warriors on Thursday afternoon at home in a critical ICCAC matchup. Kirkwood's pitching during both games would prove to be the major difference between both teams. In the first game, Jackson Payne started on the mound for the Eagles. Payne would throw all 7 innings, giving up 4 hits, no runs, and striking out 7. His performance would stifle the Warriors in the batter's box. Offensively for the Eagles, Ethan Bowers, Cal Sullivan, Clayton Campidilli, Addison Binnie, Owen Ross, and Alex Ritzer would all provide hits for the Eagles, with Bowers, Sullivan, and Ross contributing RBIs. Cal Sullivan went yard for the Eagles in the bottom of the 6th inning. Kirkwood would end up taking the game by a score of 3-0.

In the second game of the day, the bats would get hot for Kirkwood. 8 Eagles would put up hits, with Brayden Hellum, Owen Ross, and Alex Ritzer each putting up two. Two wouldn't be enough for Clayton Campidilli though who put up 4 hits in his 5 at-bats. Hellum would give Kirkwood 3 RBIs, with Bowers and Ritzer each putting up 2 of their own. 5 different Eagles had stolen bases and Kirkwood had 8 strikeouts with their three pitchers in the game (Barrett (2), Proskovec (4), and Wilson (2)).

The Eagles will travel to Council Bluffs this weekend to take on the #3 DI Iowa Western Reivers.
