#9 Eagles Go 1-2 Against Tritons

Cedar Rapids, IA- There was a battle of two top-ranked teams in Cedar Rapids this past weekend, with the #6 Iowa Central Tritons coming to play a three-game series against the #9 Kirkwood Eagles. 

Andrew Carroll would pitch a complete game for the Eagles to start the weekend off right for the Eagles. He would pitch 7 innings, give up 5 hits and 3 runs while striking out 5. The Tritons would score in the top of the first inning but Kirkwood would quickly counter with a run of their own in the bottom of the first. Ethan Bowers would record two hits in the game for Kirkwood. Clayton Campidilli would have the 4 RBIs for the Eagles, with him hitting a home run in the bottom of the 5th which would prove to be the game-winner for Kirkwood. The Eagles would pull off the 4-3 victory over the Tritons to start the weekend. 

The second game of the day would prove to be a high-scoring affair for both teams. 5 different Eagles would have hits in the game, with 4 of them having multiple hits. Miles Risley, Clayton Campidilli, and Addison Binnie would all hit home runs for the Eagles, with Risley contributing 6 RBIs in the game. Although the Eagles would put up 11 runs in the game, it wouldn't be enough to combat the 17 put up by Iowa Central. 

Kirkwood and Iowa Central would play their third game on Sunday and it would take extra innings to decide a winner. Iowa Central would hold a 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the 6th inning, but Kirkwood would score one run in the bottom of the 6th and 4 more clutch runs in the bottom of the 8th to take the game into extras tied at 5-5. Bryaden Hellum and Dylan Davis would both have 2 hits in the game, with Davis going yard and hitting a home run for the Eagles. Davis would have 3 RBIs in the game and Campidilli would have another multiple RBI outing, giving 2 of his own. However, the Tritons would score 2 runs in the top of the 10th inning to end the game with a score of 7-5. 

The Eagles will travel to Creston this Tuesday to take on the Southwestern Spartans at 1PM.
