NO.1 EAGLES THUMP NO.14 ILLINOIS CENTRAL
The top-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team pulled away from 14th-ranked Illinois Central Saturday afternoon, 75-50, in the final round of the Kirkwood Classic at Johnson Hall.
The Eagles (4-0) led by only six points at halftime, 33-17, but outscored the visitors 42-23 in the second half.
Jada Devine and Demetria Prewitt led Kirkwood with 13 points apiece. Emily Dreckman added 11 points.
The Eagles defeated the Mount Mercy junior varsity team, 90-31, in the first round Friday night. Tasia Jordan topped Kirkwood with 20 points and eight rebounds. Prewitt scored 14 points and Kaylee Corbin added 11.
