Kirkwood Takes Down Southeastern, 3-0

Kirkwood (12-6 overall) recorded its seventh sweep of the season straight sweep. Southeastern fell to 10-9 overall.

Freshman Ady Wintermote paced the Eagle attack with 10 kills at a .474 hitting percentage, six digs, and 5 blocks. Freshman Grace Swenning led the Eagles with 12 assists while fellow freshman Lauren Keane chipped in with 11. Freshman Brianna Eberhardt recorded a match-high 14 digs.

After a sluggish opening set, the Eagles were strong at the net the rest of the night by hitting over .400 for the last two sets and posting a .238 hitting percentage for the match. The Eagles also defended at the net, recording 22 blocks led by sophomore McKenzie Petersen who had a match-high eight blocks.

In a match that was rarely close, the Eagles held a double-digit lead in each of the three sets.

Kirkwood will travel to Champaign, Illinois, to take part in the Parkland Tournament this weekend. The Eagles will match up against Division I John A. Logan, eighth-ranked Lincoln Land, Division I Vincennes (receiving votes), and Muskegon.
