Wintermote named Athlete of the Week
AMES -- Freshman outside hitter Ady Wintermote's outstanding play in the Eagles' recent matches has been recognized by the ICCAC as she was awarded the league's Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 23-29, as announced yesterday.
Per the ICCAC:
Wintermote's play led the Eagles to a successful week. Kirkwood played No. 20 Northeast first, and came away with a 3-1 victory to clinch the regular season conference championship. The Eagles then battled East Central and were victorious, finishing off them off in three sets. In their final match, they faced 6th-ranked Sauk Valley and won decisively in another sweep. Wintermote showed she could do it all, with 38 kills, 28 digs, two services aces, and six total blocks. Wintermote is 10th in DII Volleyball with 488 kills. She also tallied 379 digs and 93 total blocks for the year.
Wintermote and the Eagles begin their quest to get back to the national tournament tonight vs. NIACC inside of Johnson Hall at 7 p.m.
