No. 4 Eagles finish 3-1 at McHenry Co. Invite

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Freshman OH Olivia Richards collected 31 kills Saturday as the fourth-ranked Kirkwood Eagles split their final two matches at the McHenry Co. Invitational tournament hosted in Rockford, Ill.


Richards had 15 kills as the Eagles lost to Kansas City Community College, 25-20, 25-20, 18-25, 25-21, in their first match of the day. She then had 16 kills as Kirkwood topped No. 9 Grand Rapids Community College, 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, 25-22, in their next contest.

Kirkwood finished with a 3-1 record at the McHenry tournament to begin the season.

Sophomore setter Madi Wagaman had 24 assists and 12 digs in the loss to Kansas City. First-year OH Anna Gorsich contributed 11 kills and 14 digs. So. libero Maranda Wheelock had 17 digs. MB Maggie Peters had five blocks.

Returning starting middle blocker Taylor Carey had 12 kills in the victory over Grand Rapids. Wagaman had 34 more assists. Wheelock had 22 digs and Gorsich had 18 digs. Peters collected eight blocks and Wagaman had five.

The Eagles will host Grand View Univ. jv in their home opener, Tuesday, Aug. 27 - 6:30 pm.
