#2 Eagles Set Records at Battle of Waterloo
Marion, IA- The #2 ranked Kirkwood Eagles played in the Battle of Waterloo this past wekeend at the Irv Warren Golf Course in Marion. In what would turn out to be a weekend of records for Kirkwood, the Eagles came ready to compete.
Quinn Tinkler set the tone on the front 9 for Kirkwood. Tinkler would go 7 under on the front, only making par on hole 4 and 9. He would come out on the back and birdie the par 5 10th and eagle the par 5 12th. He would then bogey 13 and 14 but bounce right back with birdies on 16 and 17. An unfortunate double-bogey on 18 could not even deter Tinkler as he tied the Kirkwood school record for 18 holes, shooting an 8 under par 64. Right behind Tinkler was Reid Hall who would have an amazing day on the course in his own right. After a bogey on hole 1, Hall would proceed to go 8 under himself, shooting a 7 under par 65. With these scores along with Nate Offerman's 71, Tate Brunk's 72, and Aaron Estell's 72, gave Kirkwood a school record for team score with a 272, 16 under par.
The rest of the weekend would be a clinic from Tinkler on how to go low. In round 2 he would shoot a 4 under (68) and in round 3 he would shoot a 3 under (69), clinching the individual low score of -15 (201). Kirkwood not only claim the team title by an impressive 37 strokes over 2nd place but would claim 3 of the top 4 indiviudal scores with Tinkler (1st), Hall (2nd), and Leo Burger (4th). Burger was competing as an individual for a Kirkwood and put up a score of +1 (217) for the tournament.
