
No.9 KCC softball wins 3 times
The ninth-ranked Kirkwood softball team compiled a 3-1 record on its trip to Kansas this past weekend.
The Eagles (7-2) split a doubleheader against Johnson County Community College Saturday, winning 6-5 in nine innings and falling 10-2 in the nightcap.
Kirkwood exploded for 30 runs Sunday, sweeping a twin-bill from Kansas City Community College, 20-11 and 10-4.
Peggy Klingler and Sydney Albaugh were the big-hitting stars for Kirkwood over the weekend. Klingler went 10-for-15 with seven runs and seven RBIs. Albaugh was 8-for-18 with eight RBIs and a home run.
Kori Wedeking (5-0) picked up a pair of complete-game victories with 17 strikeouts in 16 innings. Isabelle True collected the other victory on the trip in relief.
Emilee Linder went 6-for-16 in the four games with a home run. Olivia Richards reached base on nine of 14 trips to the plate, with four hits and five walks. Richards also had the game-winning RBI in the 6-5 victory over Johnson County.
