KCC softball splits wild twinbill
BOONE - The Kirkwood softball split a wild doubleheader with DMACC Friday in Boone.
The seventh-ranked Eagles won the first game, 15-10, in nine innings when they scored five runs in the top of the ninth.
The ninth-ranked Bears took the second game, 21-1, after scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning.
The split left Kirkwood at 21-5 overall and 10-2 in the league. DMACC finished the day at 17-10 overall and 7-3 in the conference.
Brooke Kilburg went 3-for-6 in the first game with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs. Austyn Crees hit a home run and drove in four runs. Angie Gorkow also socked a homer and scored three times. Alli Ferrari, Randyn Carter and Alecea Mendoza had two hits.
Kori Wedeking (12-1) pitched a complete game for the victory.
