KCC golfers take 5th at National Champions

JOPLIN, Mo. - The Kirkwood men's golf team placed fifth out of 20 teams at the NJCAA Division II national tournament at the Twin Hills Golf and Country Club.

South Mountain Community College captured top honors with 1,183 strokes for the 72-hole tournament. Kirkwood finished 28 shots behind at 1,211.

JD Pollard of Kirkwood tied for 11th place at 8-over-par 296 and was named a second-team All-American. Kolby Shackelford and Kyle Althofer tied for 36th at 18-over 306. Luke Evans tied for 43rd at 307 and Brandon McCarty tied for 61st at 317.

Kirkwood was awarded the Sportsmanship trophy for the tournament.
