Mayhew Named Athlete of the Week for Third Time

AMES -- Sophomore pitcher/first baseman DoniRae Mayhew was selected as the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference's (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week for the week of April 16-22, as announced yesterday by the league office. This is the third time this season that Mayhew has won the award.

Per ICCAC:

Leading the nation in one category is a big deal, but Kirkwood's sophomore DoniRae Mayhew is leading the nation in two. Mayhew is No. 1 in RBIs in all of NJCAA Division II with 68. She also tops in the home run category as well with 23. Last week during the doubleheader against conference opponent NIACC. On the week in eight games, Mayhew jacked seven bombs including four in one game, drove in 25 runners and scored 17 runs herself, one of the biggest weeks recorded in recent memory.
