#7 Eagles Grab 2 Big Wins in Tennessee

Millington, TN- 

Game 1- Kirkwood 10, Wabash Valley 20

                The Eagles jumped out to a quick 4-0 start in the first inning against Wabash Valley after a grand slam by Jaxon Schumacher. Wabash Valley responded with 8 runs of their own in the 2nd  inning to make the game 4-8. In the 3rd inning, Clayton Campidili went deep for his first homerun of the season, and Schumacher scored on a single by Nathan Motl to cut the deficit 6-8. Wabash Valley once again put up another 8 runs in the 4th to make the game 16-6. In the bottom of the 4th, Cal Sullivan hit a HR of his own, scoring himself and Addison Binnie. Campidili followed up with a double and later scored on Adam Kayko single to left field to make it 16-9 in the ballgame. Kirkwood tacked on another run in the 6th, but Wabash Valley scored 4 of their own in the 7th, making the final score 20-10.

 Game 2- Kirkwood 10, Heartland 0

                In the nightcap, Boede Rahe was absolutely dominate. The RS Sophomore was especially efficient, rolling through Heartland's lineup and throwing a CG shutout in the process on 89 pitches to earn his first win of the season. He struck out 10 batters, while allowing only two hits and two walks. On the season, Rahe has thrown 16 innings through three starts with 26 strikeouts, without giving up a run yet. The offense was led by Cal Sullivan who went 4-4 with 3 runs, 2 RBIs, and a HR. Alex Altmann also went deep for his first HR of the season. Clayton Campidili, Ty Andrews, and Matt Stoltenberg each had 2 RBIs of their own.

Game 3- Kirkwood 12, College of Dupage 2

                It took a few innings for the Kirkwood offense to get going, but once they did, they poured it on. College of Dupage was up two runs going into the top of the 5th before the Eagles put up 4 runs. Adam Kayko and Matt Stoltenberg got the offense going with singles of their own, and then Landon Frost hit a mammoth HR to right field to give the Eagles a 3-2 lead. Addison Binnie would later score on a Jaxon Schumacher sac-fly to make it 4-2. In the 6th, Kirkwood would begin to pull away with 6 runs, with Schumacher hitting a towering HR to right field to plate three more. Grant Miller came in relief and pitched 3 1/3 innings, earning his second win of the season, giving up 1 run and striking out 6 batters. Pierce Anderson threw the final frame and struck out the side to end the game 12-2 for an Eagle win.

 Game 4- Kirkwood 4, Southwest Tennessee 10

                In the final game of the weekend, Southwest Tennessee jumped out to an early three-run lead. After a scoreless 1st and 2nd, the Kirkwood offense broke loose for 4 runs in the 3rd. Addison Binne would get things rolling with a solo HR to lead off the inning. Cal Sullivan drew a walk and then scored on Jaxon Schumacher double to the left-center gap. After back-to-back walks by Nathan Motl and Ty Andrews, Matt Stoltenberg laced a single up the middle to plate two more to give the Eagles a 4-3 lead. That would be the only offense Kirkwood would produce as Southwest Tennesse scored a run in the 3rd and 4th, and five in the 6th to end the game 10-4.
