Kirkwood Downs Indian Hills 10-4

Cedar Rapids, IA- In a pivotal Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) showdown, Kirkwood Community College secured a 10-4 victory over Indian Hills Community College yesterday, at Lewis Baseball Field in Cedar Rapids. With this win, the Eagles improved their conference record to 4-1, showcasing their offensive firepower and strong pitching depth.

Early Offensive Surge Sets the Tone

Kirkwood wasted no time asserting control, scoring three runs in the first inning and maintaining their lead throughout the game. Ty Andrews led the offensive charge with a standout performance, collecting three hits, including a home run, and driving in five RBIs. Jaxon Schumacher and Adam Kayko also made key contributions, each delivering doubles and adding RBIs to extend Kirkwood's lead.

Pitching Staff Shuts Down Indian Hills

On the mound, Boede Rahe delivered a stellar performance, pitching five scoreless innings, allowing only three hits, and striking out six batters. Kirkwood's bullpen—G. Miller, D. Webb, A. Smith, and J. Barrett—combined for seven more strikeouts, effectively containing Indian Hills' offense.

Indian Hills' Late Push Falls Short

Despite struggling for most of the game, Indian Hills attempted a late comeback, scoring two runs in the ninth inning. T. Nagel stood out for the Warriors, tallying four hits and an RBI, while Z. Pace added another RBI. However, their efforts weren't enough to overcome Kirkwood's dominant play.

Next up for the Eagles is a double-header against Iowa Lakes at home this Friday starting at 1PM and a single game at home against Lakes on Saturday.
