#14 Kirkwood Baseball Drops High-Scoring Game to #7 Southeastern

Cedar Rapids, IA- The Kirkwood Eagles put together a strong offensive performance at home on Wednesday, collecting 13 hits and eight runs, but it wasn't enough to overcome a big inning from Southeastern as the Eagles fell 12-8 in Cedar Rapids.

Kirkwood steadily built momentum early in the game. After scoring single runs in the third and fourth innings, the Eagles surged with a four-run fifth and two more in the sixth. Landon Frost led the way with two hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs. Jaxon Schumacher also went deep and tallied three RBIs. Lane Spieker homered as well, while Cal Sullivan and CJ Davis each drove in a run.

The Eagles' offense was consistent throughout the lineup—Blake Lundholm reached base three times, scored twice, and added a double. Sullivan and Schumacher each had two hits, and Matt Stoltenberg chipped in with two hits off the bench.

On the mound, Reece Wrage got the start and struck out four in 4.1 innings but was tagged for six runs. Caden Wilson and Ayden Schrunk pitched in relief during Southeastern's six-run fifth, which proved to be the turning point. Davis Webb provided a strong finish out of the bullpen, tossing three scoreless innings and allowing just one hit with three strikeouts.

Up next for the Eagles is a 3 games series against Northeast beginning this Friday at home.
