Evans won the North Central District Preview last week as 10 of the 11 teams in the district met at Lake Panorama National. In cold and windy conditions, Evans was able to battle through and hold his own -- shooting a 1-over tournament. In round one he fired an even 72, which means a round two 73 is how he followed it up. He led after the first day and held on to beat Iowa Central's Nico Booyens by one stroke on day two. Kirkwood, the reigning district champions, won the event by seven strokes over Southeast (Neb.). The teams will meet back at Panorama May 1-2 to decide the three teams and two individuals that will advance to the national tournament at Swan Lake.
