KCC GOLFERS LEAD NATIONAL TOURNEY

PLYMOUTH, Ind. - The Kirkwood men's golf team enjoyed a sensational day at the NJCAA Division II national tournament Wednesday and surged into a three-shot lead at the halfway point of the event.
 
The Eagles climbed from third place into the lead after posting the best score of any of the 22 teams in the field.
 
Kirkwood sits at 1-under-par 575 after 36 holes of the 72-hole tournament, good for a three-shot lead over Parkland College. The Eagles are the only team with a red number next to their name as the only team with a sub-par score thus far.
 
The tournament continues Thursday and Friday at the Swan Lake Resort Black Course in Plymouth, Ind.
 
Kolby Shackelford of Kirkwood is tied for sixth place at 3-under-par 141 with rounds of 68 and 73. Nathan Bratanata and Luke Evans are tied for 11th place at even-par 144.
 
Grant Greazel and Taylor Crisp are tied for 33rd at 5-over 149.
