KCC GOLFERS ENJOY GOOD START AT NATIONALS

PLYMOUTH, Ind. - The Kirkwood men's golf team got off to a good start at the NJCAA Division II national tournament Tuesday.
 
The Eagles finished the day at 4-under-par 284, good for third place in the 22-team event at the Swan Lake Resort Black Course.
 
South Mountain took the 18-hole lead at 7-under 281. Parkland was second at 5-under 283.
 
The 72-hole tournament ends Friday.
 
Kolby Shackelford of Kirkwood fired a 4-under 68 Tuesday and was tied for fourth place heading into Day 2. Luke Evans was tied for 17th (1-under), Nathan Bratanata tied for 23rd (even par), and Grant Greazel was tied for 31st (1-over).
 
Mason Minkel of Heartland tore up the course at 9-under 63.
