Kirkwood Golf Kicks off Fall Season at Klocke Classic

The Kirkwood Golf team kicked off their 2023 fall season today where they are competing in the Klocke Classic at Hunter's Ridge Golf Course in Marion, Iowa. After winning the NJCAA National Title last year, the team was looking to compete and build chemistry as a unit. All Kirkwood golf members competed on Saturday. Grant Greazel, Gannon Hall, Quinn Tinkler, Frank Haege, and Nate Offerman are competing as a team Saturday in the Classic, with Tate Brunk, Nathan Bratanata, Leo Burger, and Payton Burns competing as individuals.

It was a picturesque day for the Eagles to start the year, the perfect temperature outside with the ideal blend of sunshine and shade as the team made their way through the well-groomed links with no sign of Mother Nature coming to affect the day.

Through Round 1, the Eagles had the following scores:

Gannon Hall holds the lead in the classic going -3 on Saturday, largely in part to an impressive 7-birdie display. With 3 others in the starting 5 going even for the day, the Eagles found themselves sitting in 1st place with a score of -3. Leo Burger, who is playing in his first tournament since coming here from South Africa, is in contention on the individual side, tied for 3rd, with a score of -3 and 1 shot behind the lead.

The Eagles wake up early for Round 2 on Sunday with an 8:00 AM start where they will look to secure the 1st victory of the fall season.
