Eagles Finish 2nd at NJCAA National Preview

Your Kirkwood Eagles golf team competed in the NJCAA National Preview in Joplin, Missouri on Monday and Tuesday at the Twin Hills Country Club.

It was tough sledding for every team in the event with no one able to shoot below par, but the Eagles found a way to finish 2nd in the event behind Mississippi Gulf Coast. Standing out for the team over the last two days was freshman Quinn Tinkler, who shot a +1 for round 1, +4 for round 2, and +1 for round 3, giving him a share of 3rd place overall on the leaderboard. After starting the day with a double-bogey on hole 1, Quinn found himself in a repetitive dance he would record a bogey, then a birdie, then par – giving him flow with all of the struggles across the field from other golfers. Grant Greazel was the next golfer for the Eagles to find some success amidst the high scoring in the field. Through the front 9 for round 1, Grant was able to finish even heading into the second round. After hitting par 4 times and recording an eagle, he struggled to finish a clean round but did end the day with a respectable +2 score. In round 2, his sole birdie came on the first hole but found a way to hit par 11 separate times and finish the day with a +5 round and overall score of +7. Heading into round 3, Grant found more success on the day recording 4 birdies and managed to find his way through a tough stretch on holes 11-13.

The Kirkwood Eagles head to Waverly, Iowa this Friday and Saturday where they will compete in the Wartburg Invite at the Prairie Links Golf Course.
