Baseball Sweeps Lewis & Clark

GODFREY, Ill. - The Kirkwood baseball team rode good work by their starting pitchers to a sweep of Lewis & Clark College this past weekend.

In the opening game of Saturday's twin bill, Cameron Leff allowed only one earned run in five innings in a 7-5 victory in the first game, then Adam Ketelsen allowed did exactly the same thing in an 11-1 verdict in the nightcap.

Cal Clark drove in two runs for Kirkwood in the 7-5 victory in the opener. Ellison Hanna and Chili Moseley had two hits. Kaden Wadle got the final two outs in the bottom of the seventh for the save.

Korry Howell went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs for the Eagles in the second game. Howell, Taylor Jackson, Ross Kramer and Moseley all scored two times.

On Sunday, freshman Izaya Fullard went 4-for-7 with a grand slam and six RBIs as the Kirkwood Eagles swept a doubleheader from Lewis & Clark, 5-1 and 12-0 in five innings.

Fullard went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the 5-1 victory in the opener. Ellison Hanna was 3-for-4 with a double.

Cal Stalzer pitched four strong innings for the victory, allowing one run on five hits with seven strikeouts. Peyton Long and Cam Cowan combined for three scoreless innings in relief.

Fullard was 2-for-3 with his grand slam in the second game. Ross Kramer also slugged a home run and Chili Moseley had two hits. Kirkwood erupted for nine runs in the fourth inning.

Hunter Lee pitched four strong innings for the verdict in the 12-0  romp in Game 2. He allowed only one hit with seven strikeouts. Kramer pitched the fifth and final inning.

Kirkwood raised its record to 6-2.
