Baseball Duo Earns Conference Awards

AMES -- Sophomore outfielder Ellison Hanna and fellow sophomore pitcher Hunter Lee earned the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference's (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office yesterday afternoon.

Per ICCAC:

Kirkwood's sophomore Ellison Hanna has turned into an RBI machine. While playing against ICCAC opponents Marshalltown and DMACC, Hanna drove in a total of nine runs while at the plate. Not only has Hanna hit in RBIs, he has also hit home runs. He hit not one, not two, but three home runs over the past week. Hanna was responsible for 12 of the Eagle's runs this past week as he also scored three times himself.

Last week, [teammate] sophomore pitcher Hunter Lee earned another win while pitching for the Eagles. Lee is now 3-0 on the season. During his 5-1 win against DMACC, Lee pitched seven of the nine total innings. In the seven-innings pitched, Lee allowed only three hits. He struck out eight Bears, adding to his season total of 24 strikeouts. Lee's ERA is now sitting at a 2.55 and his total batting average against is .190.
