Morgan leads KCC golfers to Wartburg title

WATERLOO - James Morgan of Kirkwood claimed medalist honors Saturday as the Eagles dominated the Wartburg Fall Invitational.

Morgan carded rounds of 72 and 71 and finished at 1-under-par 143 for a five-shot victory over 45 golfers.

Kirkwood captured the title by 31 strokes as all six Eagles finished in the top-8 of the individual standings. Brandon McCarty placed second at 4-over 148 with two steady rounds of 74 at the Sunnyside Golf & Country Club and the Beaver Hills Country Club.

Jacob Harrington-Wara (*playing as an individual), Jacob Patterson, and JD Pollard of Kirkwood all tied for fifth place at 9-over 153. Kolby Shackelford finished eighth at 10-over 154.

The University of Dubuque and Hawkeye Community College tied for second, a distant 31 shots behind Kirkwood among eight teams.
