KCC golfers take 2nd in Missouri

NIXA, Mo. - The Kirkwood men's golf team placed second at the Evangel Spring Invitational at the Fremont Hills County Club Tuesday.

It was the first event of the season for Kirkwood, which is ranked No. 1 in the country in NJCAA Division II.

Evangel edged the Eagles by two shots, 610-612, for top honors out of 10 teams in the tournament that was held Monday and Tuesday in Nixa, Mo. The event attracted teams from two-year schools and four-year schools.

James Morgan led Kirkwood with rounds of 79 and 71 for a 36-hole total of 8-over-par 150. Kolby Shackelford finished in fifth place at 9-over 151 with rounds of 78 and 73.

Brandon McCarty tied for seventh place at 12-over 154.
