Eagles Finish 2-0 at OWT Tournament

Rockford, Ill.- The Kirkwood Eagles closed the Opening Weekend Tournament by going 2-0 against Muskegon and Mott Community College. Kirkwood finished strong by not dropping a single set on Saturday.  

The Eagles were helped out in their match against Muskegon by offensive performances from Makayla Howard and Alyssa Tegeler. Howard contributed 9 kills, hitting .346 over the three sets while Tegeler put up 7 kills, hitting .400. Libero, Lily Van Severen, led the Eagles defensively tallying 16 digs. Sydney Matthias kept her great weekend going by adding 25 assists. 

In the day's final match against Mott Community College, Kirkwood jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Emma Cross led all Eagles with 8 kills while Ava Morris and Makayla Howard had 6. Lily Van Severen racked up 6 aces and a team-high 14 digs.

Next up for the Eagles will be Grand View University JV team this upcoming Wednesday, August 23rd at 6:30 pm at home.
