#5 Eagles Secure Road Win Against Southeastern

West Burlington, IA- Fifth-ranked Kirkwood traveled to West Burlington last night to take on conference rival, Southeastern. A tightly contested battle from start to finish, Kirkwood secured the road victory three sets to one (25-22, 26-24, 25-27, 25-21). This puts the Eagles at 9-1 in conference with a pivotal match-up next week against Hawkeye to close out the regular season. 

 

Offensively for the Eagles, it was the night of the Emmas. Emma Meester put away 15 kills on 25 total attempts hitting .345, while Emma Cross had 12 kills of her own on 44 total attempts. Right behind them was middle hitter, Sophie Gaffney, who had 8 kills on 17 total attempts hitting .417. Grace Embretson and Sydney Matthias ran the offense with 27 and 26 assists, respectively. Lily VanSeveren continued her impressive defensive effort with 38 digs over the four sets. 

 

The Eagles head to Fort Dodge this weekend to compete in the Triton Tournament. They start the action on Friday at 2:45 pm against the #2 team in the country, Cowley College.
