#7 Eagles finish with a perfect 4-0 record at SEC Jimmy John’s Tournament

West Burlington, IA- The seventh ranked Kirkwood women's volleyball team left the SEC Jimmy John's Tournament on Friday with a 4-0 record. 

It was all Kirkwood the first match of the day, with the Eagles over East Central (25-15, 25-13, 25-8). The Eagles offense was a balanced effort between Ava Morris (7 kills, 11 attempts) along with Emma Cross and Alyssa Tegeler each adding 8 kills. Allison Bonnette and Makayla Howard also contributed 7 kills respectively. Lily Van Severen rocked the serve and pass game with 14 digs and 5 aces. Sydney Matthias added another 5 digs, along with an impressive 37 assists. The Eagles added 8 blocks to their season stat line while recording 10 aces and hiting over .450 as a team.

In the final match of the SEC Tournament, Kirkwood finished strong in a sweep of Spoon Valley (25-10, 25-19, 25-13). Sydney Matthias had 29 assists to go with her 7 digs. Libero Lily Van Severen added an impressive 18 digs. On the offensive side, outside hitter Makayla Howard ran the show with 12 kills on 22 attempts (.545), Emma Cross added 9 kills on 19 attempts (.316). 

The Eagles will play #11 Iowa Central Community College this Wednesday at 7:00pm in Fort Dodge, IA.
