#6 Eagles Take Down Western Iowa Tech in Four

Sioux City, IA- The #6 Kirkwood Eagles traveled to Western Iowa Tech for a conference showdown on Thursday Night. Kirkwood was able to prevail after dropping the first set 25-22 by winning the next three with scores of -18, -16, -16. With this win, the Eagles improved to 8-1 in the conference with some pivotal matchups left in the coming weeks.

Kirkwood started off the match a little slowly, struggling to find their rhythm in serve receive. The first set was a back-and-forth battle that ultimately led to the Comets finishing on a 3-0 run to close it out. However, after the slow start, Kirkwood found their mojo behind the service line, especially from Addy Grimm who had 5 service aces on the night. Lily VanSeveren was her consistent self on the defensive side of the ball, contributing 14 digs in the four-set match. Emma Cross and Alyssa Tegeler put forth a strong offensive effort, putting up 12 and 10 kills and hitting .379 and .400 respectively.

The Eagles are back in action next week when they travel to Southeastern for an important mid-week conference matchup.
